Organize your kitchen leftovers

Looking for a simple way to get the leftovers in your refrigerator in order?
Toss out your old, warped, stained, BPA-filled, mismatched food storage containers. Then, shell out about $30 for a set of Rubbermaid Lock-Its with Easy Find Lids (they are cheapest at your local Sam’s Club, BJ’s Wholesale, Costco, etc.)

I did it & couldn’t be happier – here’s why:
- They all nest together well, taking up much less space in your cabinets
- It’s much easier to find the lid to match the container
- Having the right size for leftovers encourages saving food, rather than trashing it = save a few bucks!
- It’s really nice to have the latest containers (they don’t stain red from tomato sauce, don’t melt in the dishwasher & don’t contain BPA)
One other tip: when you’re cleaning up after dinner, put the leftovers directly into lunch-sized containers (2-3 cups), so the adults in the house can just grab their lunch on the way out the door the next morning.
It works for me!

This would work well for my husband, who takes leftovers to lunch several days a week. Having containers that aren’t stained with tomato sauce would be a plus as well!
Great tip! Packaging up the leftovers into individual servings will also help with portion control, if that’s something you’re concerned about.
Great idea. I can still see the old tupperware containers in my mother’s refrigerator stained from 15 years of use
Also, given that many American’s are overweight, another use would be to divide and package up futures meals BEFORE eating.
I own a set of these and love them!!
They keep your food fresh.
I have the starter kit for Rubbermaid-two pieces of this, 2 pieces of stain resistant & two pieces of “made for fruit.” I LOVE it!
