springpad alerts 2010

You already use Springpad to save things you want to remember. Now, it’s becoming even easier to remember the things that are important to you. Springpad will now alert you when there’s important information related to the things you save – like upcoming tasks, events, price drops, coupons, local deals, and breaking news. Alerts are meant to help you out – so you’ll only be alerted when the information is truly relevant to the specific things you’ve saved.

Login now
to see the new Alerts section of Springpad!

Here’s a run-down of the types of Alerts you’ll see:
- Reminders for Anything! Add a reminder to anything in your Springpad account. Products you want to be reminded to buy, Restaurants reservations you need a reminder to make, and of course basic reminders for Tasks and Events. These reminders can be sent via email or SMS to your mobile phone (SMS is US only).
- Deals for Local Businesses: We’ve integrated with daily deal sites like Groupon to let you know when there are offers related to the things you’ve saved to Springpad.
- Price Drops: If there is a price change on one of the products you save to Springpad, you’ll be alerted of the change.
- Coupons: We’ll present you with coupons related to the things you save to Springpad. For example, if there’s an ingredient on a favorite recipe, an item on your shopping lists, or a product you want, Springpad will attach a coupon to that item.
- News: We’ll let you know when there’s news related to the things in your Springpad. We’ll help you stay informed about authors, bands, movies, websites & more.

Where to find your Springpad Alerts:
- In My Stuff , you’ll see a link to Alerts on the right hand side of the screen.
- On the full page view of one of your items, you’ll see a new Alerts section where related reminders, deals & news will be displayed.
- The most recent alerts in your Springpad will be included in your Weekly Summary email, sent on Mondays.
- Subscribe to your alerts via the RSS feed.
Note: Alerts are currently only available on Springpadit.com, but will be added to the mobile apps soon.

    Hi there,
first of all: love Springpad! But: I preferably use it on my Android phone as a widget and I´d like to see the items ordered by due date. Is there any way to do so?
    best regards!

Is it possible to manually add an alert? I have a printed coupon for a local store that I would like to have as a reminder in Springpad but I can’t see any way to set an alert for it as a reminder before it expires.

    • brittni says:

Hi Martin – you can create an Alarm (on the web only) or a task and add a due date. When the time comes closer you’ll receive and alert in the alerts dashboard.

  11. Will F. says:

How does one activate SMS alerts? I have takes that are due and they show up in my dashboard but I can’t figure out how to make them send me either an email or SMS alert as the due date approaches. Thanks!

    • brittni says:

@WillF – you can create a reminder – the little alarm click icon when you view your task on the web app. Click add and manage channels to set up an SMS number.

  12. Lo says:

This sounds like a great feature, but I have spent over 10 minutes trying to save one product as an alert and still cannot figure out how to actually save the product/create the alert. Your help only points to this page, which doesn’t even walk you through the process. :(

    • brittni says:

@Lo – sorry if it’s unclear. Alerts are sent automatically if there is relevant info to share. So if you save a product then it goes on sale, we could send you an alert. You can create your own alerts by creating tasks with due dates or alarms. Hope this makes sense! If you have any more questions feel free to email brittni@springpartners.com

  13. Hotchixie says:

It would be really great if you can receive an alert at a certain time on the same day the task is due, i am only seeing the ability to add an alert 1 day before.

  14. hana says:

I have set up alerts in my recipe book to remind me about meal planning (taking items out of the freezer, prepping, etc). It’s a great feature, but I’ve noticed a little glitch when trying to input text in the alert field, it only allows me to type one letter. I have to go to my wordpad and type out the alert, copy and paste it into the alert field:(. Is anyone else experiencing this? It’s minor – I’m new to Springpad and am TOTALLY HOOKED!!!!!

    • brittni says:

Hotchixie – good point, that does make sense.

Hana – I’m guessing you’re using a Beta or Dev version of Chrome? Any issues with beta browsers cannot be fixed, since the release is unstable. Try using the stable version Chrome 8, you’ll have better Springpad experience.

  15. hana says:

It appears I am using a beta Chrome version (9.xx). Unfortunately I think living with the workaround will be easier than trying to downgrade my browser. Thanks for the fast response and the help:-)

I made several attempts to set up an SMS alert for my Iphone with Springpad and it never happened. I said in another comment earlier that the whole alarm and alerts option needs clarification and improvement. Many of us are using other apps to get our phone alerts…why should we when it should ideally all be with Springpad!

  17. AT says:

I saved a link to a television, made some notes, noted theprice, etc. Now, how do I get an alert if this thing goes on sale? There’s is no obvious way to set up an Alert. Shouldn’t be this difficult should it? Thanks!

  18. dave says:

It’d be nice if you could set an alert for when a webpage changes. I’ve got a couple sites I read that don’t change very often, so getting an alert that something changed would be useful.

  19. dt says:

Hi i’ve recently started using Spingpad alerts and alarms. I set up a weekly alarm to repeat every Sat. But the alarm is always going off 1 day late. I checked the “next alert on..” date, and its correct. But still the alert will not be activated on that date. I googled the problem recently & I saw your suggestion to set the timezone in settings. I tried that but I still get the problem. Any other suggestions? Btw, i’m using springpad on my iphone app. Thanks!

    • brittni says:

Hi dt – if the region format on your phone is set to anything other than US you may have a calendar issue. This will be fixed with the next update of the Springpad app (coming very soon).

On the Widget, I just want to see the Alerts for today, not everything else.

On the Android front page, I want to see a summary of Alerts for today.

I would like to be able to choose Today, Tomorrow, Next 7 Days etc on the front page too.

    Thanks
