Record Voice Memos on Springpad Android App! (v 1.0.10)
Over the past month we’ve released a bunch of updates and improvements to the Android app (now at the awkward-sounding version of 1.0.10)!
Here’s a list of what’s new:
Voice memo support
You can now add a voice note as well as attach voice memos to existing notes.
The new audio recording option is under “add media” in both the main create screen as well as the attachments area. All of your voice memos will also be synced to the web.
Live folders
Live folders are a great feature of Android devices, that allow you get to the information you’re after with fewer taps. To add a Springpad live folder to the Home screen of your Android device:
- Press and hold on the Home screen until the “Add to Home screen” dialog pops up
- Select “Folders”
- Springpad gives you 4 live folder options (Recently added items, Checklists, Notes, Tasks)
Ability to install Springpad on your SD Card (Froyo users)
For those on the most recent Android OS (2.2), you can now install Springpad on your SD card, freeing up some much-needed memory on the core device
Other Improvements and Bug Fixes:
- Photo notes now embedded within the notes area
- Hide completed items in checklists (shopping, packing and general checklists)
- Edit the details on many more note types – Recipes, Movies, Products and more
- Improved unicode support
- Allow for edit and delete attached notes and media
- Fixed live folder crashes for EVO users
- Removed intermittent cases of attempts to sync with the Springpad servers while in offline mode

JonR says: It is great to see that Android is getting updates being worked on. I am not sure if anyone else is having problems with this upate besides me though. I am running it on Sprint Hero w/2.1 and voice notes not working. I am not getting the button to start recording. I am able to hit cancel to back out of it, but not able to record anything.
Also the tasks live folder shows tasks that have already been completed – I would assume that it would only show pending tasks not yet completed.
Looking forward to more updates to app in future!

The record button has been fixed with release 1.0.11 (it was not visible for certain phones).
Also, thanks for the feedback on the Tasks Live Folder!

Almaz – sorry about that, we hope to improve this soon, we do not officially support small screen android devices right now.
