Tips and Tricks.

When it comes to making big purchases, it’s often helpful to keep notes on products that you’re considering. Use Springpad to save products, add notes and track price changes. Then, when you’re ready to make a purchase, you’ll have all of the information you need to make a decision in one place.

Save products that you’re considering when you’re at the store
While shopping, use the Springpad mobile apps to save products you like right at the store.  Save by barcode, by snapping a picture of the item, or use Springpad to search for the product you’re trying to save.

Pro Tip: Barcode search currently works best for electronic products, books, DVD’s, etc. Results for international barcodes or grocery items are not always perfect!

Save products that you’re considering when you’re online
Use the Springpad Clipper or one of our Browser Extensions (coming soon) to save products without leaving the site that you’re on. Clipped items are saved to your account complete with an image, price, description, and link to purchase. You can also add tags & notes directly from the clipper.
Pro Tip: Tag your products with something like ‘considering’ – you then can set up a Saved Search on Springpadit.com that will automatically update with newly-tagged items.

Attach notes, photos and links
While researching products, you can attach photos, personal notes, and links to reviews & videos.  Springpad will automatically add quicklinks to relevant reviews.

Pro Tip: If you talk to a salesperson, attach your notes from the conversation to the product you’re considering.

Let Springpad Alerts help you save money
With Springpad Alerts, you’ll know when the price drops on a product that you’ve saved. You’ll also be alerted to any related special deals or offers. Alerts are currently available on Springpadit.com & coming to the mobile apps soon.
Pro Tip: Manually add custom reminders to help you remember to check back on products.

Oh no! I’ve just signed on and installed the mobile app on my android phone. It’s great that you allow us to make new notes from a barcode scan.

But I want to find that note again when I scan the same barcode!! Arrrggghhh… WTF is there no app in the known universe that can do such a simple thing?

Surely that’s the whole point – to look up my reviews and notes in the shop based on a barcode scan and not just to keep creating new notes. You can serve us ads based on that lookup – that’s OK… Just let me find existing notes for products based on the product barcode. Then it doesn’t matter whether your app can or can’t find non-US products.

Lucky I’m a software engineer by trade. I can see that I’m just going to have to write the damn app myself.

It would be great if non-US users could get comparison information from local directories / websites etc. Pricegrabber.com isn’t much use to me, but pricegrabber.co.uk would be very handy! :)

Also, I agree with Zardoz. The option to add a new note, or search for an existing note when I scan a barcode would be great.

I have yet to be able to scan a barcode with my iPad. So far, it hasn’t picked it up.

Can you make option for user just to record barcode into memo ? It almost impossible to develop universal barcode search engine to satisfy millions SpringPad users. Now message appears “unable to find by UPC”, then cannot do further. Please consider to make one more option to record barcode in memo. This may not help shoppers, but will help a lot for retail shop management like me.
