Springpad – One Million Strong…. and Growing!

We’re thrilled to announce that less than a year after our official launch, Springpad has crossed one million registered users! With 250k new users in January alone, we’re seeing an acceleration in both signups and engagement to start the new year. We’re extremely grateful for our passionate and loyal users who have helped turn Springpad into the ultimate service to help you save and access anything you want to remember – wherever and whenever.

As the number of discovery services from social to search has increased, so has the amount of noise. Springpad is benefitting from this trend by helping our users create signal from all that noise. Here’s how:

Timeliness
As the real-time nature of the web grows, there’s an increasing likelihood that you’re going to discover a useful piece of information today, but unfortunately today might not be when you’re really ready for it. Among Springpad users, we see articles saved during work hours, then accessed at night. We’re also seeing that structured content saved to Springpad, like Books and Recipes, are accessed weeks or months later.

Modality
With the explosion of Android and iOS there’s an increased chance that discoveries today is not necessarily the preferred medium for consumption. Springpad users save recipes discovered on the web but then access the recipes on their iPhone to shop and then iPad to cook. They scan barcodes on their Android app at the store but research and purchase the product on the web.

Assistance
Not only is timeliness and modality important, but so is helping the user get things done by providing current, actionable information. Springpad users have saved over 5 million enhanced items and have received more than 1 million alerts, ranging from Restaurants enhanced with menus, reservations links and daily deal alerts, to Products with best prices and reviews, to Movies with showtimes, trailers and alerts for availability on services like Netflix.

We’re doubling down on these areas for 2011 by offering better ways to save, organize and act in addition to introducing some interesting new concepts that will help users sift through the sea of data and simplify their lives… Stay tuned, as we’re only just getting started!

Springpad is a great idea with excellent implementation.
Please continue improving Android sync performance.
With the growing customer install base growing exponentially – performance should be of a primary consideration.
