Update to Springpad iOS App Makes It Easier to Save Anything You Want to Remember (v2.5.0)
The latest version of the Springpad app for iPhone and iPad is available today, introducing a couple of exciting new features that make it easier to save anything you want to remember, right when you come across it. The newly-optimized clipper for iOS lets you save to Springpad as you surf the web, and the new Quick Add button for your device’s home screen allows you to jump right into adding new things. Get the update now!
Clipper for iPhone and iPad
We want it to be easy to save new things to Springpad, no matter when or where you discover them. With this update, we optimized the Springpad Clipper for use on the Safari browser on your iOS device, so when you come across something while browsing the web with your iPhone or iPad you can save it to Springpad with just a few taps. The new mobile-optimized clipper allows you to “clip” any page to Springpad by pulling up the clipper from your browser’s bookmarks. Learn more about the new Springpad Clipper.
How to install the clipper for iOS: From the app’s Settings page, follow the device-specific instructions (watch a video)
Quick Add Button
Now add a button to your device’s home screen that will take you directly into the “Add” screen in Springpad. This new shortcut saves you a few taps when saving to Springpad, making it simpler and faster to save things on the go!

How to install the quick add button: From the app’s Settings page, follow the instructions
Other Improvements and Bug Fixes
- Reduces time to save new photo notes
- Fixes international keyboard placement while entering notes
- Adds warning to login screen if user’s device time is incorrect

Hi Katin,
I appreciate your enthusiasm in trying to make Springpad a great app. I prefer this to Evernote.
But, I think you need to concentrate on making the app aesthetic. Please change the app icon. Next, I think it would be great if you remove the quick add button (the icon is bad) and instead make the spring pad app load faster (it takes 6-7 seconds for the app to load).
Also, I would want the notes to be available locally, just in case there’s no net connection.
Is there a possibility we might see a desktop app?
Regards,
Sai
does this mean an update for the home computer as well as the “app” for mobile, etc?

Should I scream now or later. AHHHHHH! Awesome! I LOVE THIS APPLICATION. If I weren’t married I would become your stalker…that’s how much I love this app. I have been looking for this app all my life. I actually started developing the perfect app in my head a few weeks ago and it’s already done
on to my next idea…keep up the good work and best wishes…YOU ROCK!
Wholeheartedly disagree with Sai. Love your icon for both the app and the new clipper. The Springpad aesthetic is what keeps me coming back. It’s the functionality I want to see embiggened.
Inline photos in notes. Rich text formatting, which reflects both on the web and mobile .. and stickier sorting options (somehow keeps getting changed back to ‘by date added’ instead of my preferred ‘by name.’) Those are some of the changes I’d like to see.
Heck, on iPad, in one orientation, you see icons for tags, with no text labels. That’s useless.
Still, Springpad is beautiful. I want to see it improve. I’m rooting for Spring Partners.
My dream… Functionality of Evernote + beauty of Springpad.
Oh, and I wfant to turn off all the social stuff.
I’m new to Springpad and I love it. I agree with DigitalEl’s comment: we need rich text formatting and I would like an option to delete the ‘friends’.
Also, how do I import and save a .pdf file to my note?
Otherwise….. love it!
Thanks for your quick reply, Katin. I feel a bit silly to ask this question, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to attach the .pdf. I have only 4 options in ‘attachments’ : photos (camera & library), notes, audio and reminder. I also don’t have an options in programs like Goodreader to open in Springpad.
I cannot find on your site where it explains how to save a .pdf. So i’m afraid I need you to explain a bit more,….
Love this app! I use it all the time to save recipes as I’m browsing, but with the current update I can no longer add which “course” a recipe belongs to when using the clipper. Any chance of adding that capability back in?
I want to be able to add excel spread sheets on my computer and then view on iphone can you please help.
Hi there, I think your web site may be having internet browser compatibility problems.
Whenever I take a look at your website in Safari,
it looks fine however, when opening in Internet Explorer, it’s got some overlapping issues. I just wanted to provide you with a quick heads up! Apart from that, great site!

Cindy – Yes. Check out this post: http://blog.springpadit.com/2011/09/updated-springpad-clipper-simplifies-saving-things-from-the-web/ It explains that the clipper has been updated for both the computer browser & for the iPhone/iPad browser. I hope this helps!

Ria – Welcome & thanks for the input! You can attach a pdf file to any note you have created under attachments.

Ris – Ah, currently file attachments can only be added on the web app. Sorry about that!

Joan – we’re considering it for the future. Check out the discussion here: http://getsatisfaction.com/springpartners/topics/spring_it_clipper_update

Hi Dennis – you can add files as Attachments to any note and then download the file once the note syncs to your iPhone app.
