The new design of the Springpad app for your Android phone or tablet greatly improves the usability of the app!  Not only is the new design inline with updates to the web app, it also includes lots of mobile-specific improvements.

  • Jump Right In! With the latest version of the app, you can explore public notebooks without registering for an account. Now, new users can check it out before they sign up!
  • Navigation Improvements - We’ve completely redesigned the interface of the app, making it easier to create new items, filter your stuff, and get to what you need when you need it!
  • Follow Notebooks from Your Friends – Friends Stuff has been replaced with a new Following section, where you can choose to follow specific notebooks from people you trust, then spring something for yourself.
  • Explore Springpad for New Ideas – If you’re looking for some inspiration, check out public notebooks from the Springpad community in the new Explore section.

New Collaboration Features
When it comes to collecting and sharing ideas for a specific topic, you probably have a list of friends whose opinion you trust most. So, create a notebook, invite them to contribute, and let the sharing begin!

Create a Springpad notebook with your friends to collect books, recipes, movies, bookmarks, or anything!  Learn more about the new Springpad collaboration features.

Other Improvements
This update also includes a number of improvements, all focused on simplifying your Springpad experience.

  • Task categories removed – To simplify your experience, we’ve removed categories and replace them with tags.

  1. nexus says:

Nice update, but really not liking the flouting of standard Android UX — for example, the Android menu button does nothing, I have to hit the on-screen menu button (what?!)

  2. Dev says:

I have updated the android app but it no longer syncs. i get an “error synchronizing with springpad.com” error in my notifications.

Also, I agree with nexus, the menu button is now not active, which is highly annoying.

Other than that so far it looks very nice. The sharing of notes with specific people to collaborate is very useful.

  3. Nicole says:

I do not understand why you would take such a perfect app and take away everything that was perfect about it, and change it from a productivity tool to a social sharing website.
I don’t want to comment on my notes, I want to add sub-notes.
I don’t want to “like” something I posted, I want to flag it as important.
I don’t care about the collage of pictures on the folder, I want to be able to have them fit on the screen so I don’t have to scroll a TON to get to my notebooks.
I don’t care about some stupid minimal theme for the website, I want my green desktop back.
I don’t want Springpad to tell me what I’m trying to add, I just want to be able to add it how I want! The new add bar (where the search used to be which is VERY confusing) doesn’t work unless you pick something THEY tell you you’re trying to type. If I type a task and it doesn’t give me a drop down option, I can’t enter that task?

All in all, not a good update. I want a note app, not another social network.

    • Scott says:

Nicole is right on the money. Perfect critique, if you ask me.
I want the old notebook view back in particular. Can’t this feature be toggled somehow…”classic view” per chance?
I see a LOT of “features” that make this app significantly harder to use now, and absolutely nothing that makes it better for my uses.
Leave the “social” features to the social apps. I just want organizer notebooks!

    • Ralph says:

I agree! Why does everything need to be social? Totally unusable.

    • Linda says:

I agree 100%!!! I had everything just as I wanted it, notebooks color coded and was able to add or edit at anytime. Now I can’t do anything. What I have there is it. There is no longer an “add” button.
At times I just wanted to make a quick note and now I can’t do that. I have spent 2-3 hours on the website today trying to find a way to make an addition. No such luck.
I don’t need another social network. This info was not for public view. I don’t care to have followers or comments or anyone perusing my information. This was for my convenience and not for anyone else to see.

    • Adrian says:

I completely agree with the above comments
give me back the productivity tool that I installed.

  4. Denis says:

No support for Cyrillic after update – now i see some unreadable symbols after creating&saving new notes

  5. Franco says:

I’m sorry but after upgrading Springpad app just stops with a Forced Close error. Tried to uninstall-reinstall and clear settings but the issue is still there.
My device is an LG Optimus 2X (using CM7.2RC1 rom)

  6. Panseon says:

I’m using your app on an Android phone htc sensation. I want to report some bugs. After this upgrading I found some errors.
First error is Korean copy and paste problem.
I copied and pasted Korean texts using create a note, and closed Springpad. After opened it again, the note showed me like this.
    ‘돼추락”
    ìœ ì—”ì•ˆë³´ë¦¬ê¸´ê¸‰íšŒì˜â€¦æ—¥ ì •ë¶€ì•ˆì „ë³´ìž¥íšŒì˜ì†Œ 집

Creating a note on widget and on application all have problem. (Korean texts)

Second error is this, when I try to add Springpad shortcut, my phone shows me this massage. ‘Sorry, the application Springpad (process com.springpad) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.’ – Force close…
I can’t add springpad shortcut to my home screen.

    Please fix these errors. Thanks~

  7. Jan Flodin says:

I agree on most of the critic. Very confusing and bloated.

Right now, I have a note and I do NOT want to add a new tag to it, I want to add an EXISTING tag to it and I cannot figure out if it is possible. This is really frustrating. Whoever came up with this upgrade idea?

    • Jan Flodin says:

Ok, I am supposed to just start typing a character and THEN I get a menu of the existing tags… Eh?? Why not get me the menu before I start typing, as with “add to Notebook”?
These are things that makes it frustrating.

      Besides the bloated icons….

Have two conferences next week, all agenda, programmes etc. is in my springpad. Thank God I also input my travel data into Tripcase!

  8. Jo says:

I want my old Spring Pad version back!

  9. kazu says:

Hello! When you create a note in the application of evo3d
Always will be garbled. Become garbled unchanged from 3.03 to
The. I can not fix it?

  10. Vogon says:

I second all the negative comments. Before the last update it was an excellent application. Now the interface is less intuitive and slower but the worst thing that most of the notes are not syncing. Obviously this makes the application just unusable.

  11. Nimue says:

I’d love to synchronize only 2 notebooks not all of my 20 ;-)

    How do I do it?
