Here’s a breakdown of the major benefits we’ve identified when using Springpad in the video production process.

Helpful for gathering different types of media – First and foremost, Springpad gives our team the ability to collect so many different types of media. Since video concepts can come from any source, it is crucial for our team to have the ability to upload PDFs, videos, website URLs, audio files, etc. Without Springpad, our team never had the ability to gather this information in a logical and organized way.

Ability to create private notebooks – Let’s face it, not everything is intended for general consumption. Some information within a team environment (proprietary docs, proposals, etc.) should not be shared on the web. Springpad’s private notebooks provide our team with a tool to collect a wide variety of information while also keeping information internal.

Useful for curating inspirations on projects – Samples from other video producers, clients, agencies, industries, etc. all provide valuable input during the pre-production process. Springpad gives our team the ability to curate and organize our thoughts on a project-by-project basis. In addition, we can tag assets to use in more than one notebook. This allows us to repurpose media across a variety of projects and gain new perspectives.

Helpful for sharing organized thoughts with clients – Reviewing sample videos and mood boards are often a key component to our pre-production process. Springpad allows our team to create separate notebooks for sharing thoughts with clients. The application provides a very intuitive and visual display of videos, images, documents, etc. We either use client notebooks in meetings or share a link for review.

Useful for capturing information “on the go” – What can I say, our team is “mobile.” We have employees who edit one day and film the next. So, it’s crucial to be able to add inspirations or ideas while being away from the office. The mobile and iPad apps allow our team to immediately capture inspirations while in the field or even during a weekend break. All of the information is seamlessly added to Springpad from mobile phones or tablets and is accessible through the desktop.

Crucial for saving information found on the web – When was the last time you searched for an awesome YouTube video and couldn’t find it? What about that “how-to” article that saved you 30 minutes one day? These types of nuggets are immediately archived by our team when they browse the web. We use the web clipper to make the process easy. With a few clicks, we can save the information of a webpage right to Springpad, without leaving the website. We rarely find a case where we can’t recall that “great web video” or find a useful article. If we can’t find it, it’s because it wasn’t saved in Springpad!

Ideal for collecting information for our Pinterest or other social media accounts – Visual assets are very impactful and help add layers to content on social media. Before posting on our social accounts, we’ll often create a private notebook in Springpad. This allows our team to collect the best imagery for a particular board or post.

Although we have captured the benefits of using Springpad at a production company, the application is a great tool for a variety of industries. Ultimately, the application allows a team to collaborate, share and generate ideas for projects. We really enjoy using Springpad and feel it has enhanced the way our team communicates.
